Administrating Occupied Territories

The Navy located a Military Government School at Columbia to train  officers to administer territories occupied during the war.  Under the direction of Professor Schuyler Wallace of the Department of Government, the school commissioned almost 350 officers, who helped to reestablish functioning government in areas of both Europe and the Pacific that were freed from Axis control.

A school was established on campus to train a select group of officers in the event that they would be needed to run the government of territories under U.S. control. August 1944.
